She loved her career of nursing and the help and caring she could give others. Jacquie was a wife, mother, step mother, grandmother, community volunteer, scholar, successful business entrepreneur, and problem solver. She made a difference. Her illness became a problem that could not be solved.
It is with greatly saddened hearts that we, Jacquie's family, announce that Jacquie's 9 month battle with cancer is finally over on February 16th. Her family supported her throughout some very difficult decisions. Jacquie is survived by her husband Art Wing, daughters Michele (Kevin) Thorsen of Florida (Jacqueline & John), Lynn (Jeff) Henderson of Florida (Jenny, Katie), in Niagara, step-sons Joe (Debbie) Wing (Meghan, Travis), Michael Wing, Christopher (Wendy) Wing (Stuart, Rachel), Sister Jo McDuffie (Milton), brothers, Stephen (Judy) Barr (Georgetown), Tony Barr (Port Dover). Predeceased by her son Brian Herman (1991), Mother Catherine Barr (2003), Father Tony Barr (1987). Jacquie was born in Kingston on Thames in England and came to Canada at an early age and lived in Milton until she moved to the Niagara Region.
The President and owner of Jacquie Herman Associates (1987-2005) and Jacquie Herman Consulting (2005-2019). Her philosophy of solution focused counselling made a significant difference to her individual and corporate clients in Niagara and beyond. She was an executive member of a number of national and international counselling organization. A Catholic Women's League past St Catharines Diocese President 1975-76, Past Vice President of the Ontario CWL and a 50-year life member. One of the 3 founding Board members of what became Hospice Niagara. Very active in Rotary - Member of the Rotary Club of St Catharines 1993-2004 and 2012-2021. Past President of the St Catharines Sunrise Rotary Club, District 7090 past-membership co-chair, District Trainer, Canadian Zone 28 trainer and a welcome diplomatic advisor to Rotarian Art. Honoured by the Rotary International Foundation as a ten-time Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor, a Bequest Society member and Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation. A longtime member of the Canadian Federation of University Women's club of St Catharines- her gourmet group were special friends.
Jacquie loved cooking, sewing, knitting, reading and travel which included the UK, Europe, Bulgaria, Egypt, China, cruises and long term stays at the condo in Bonita Springs Florida. Above all, she loved her family and for over 29 years tried to attend as many of the grandchildren's activities as possible. Jacquie regretted not writing "that book", not getting a doctorate, and most of all not staying to see her grandchildren married and her great grandchildren. She was extremely grateful for the daily assistance of the members of our close family.
The family are very appreciative for the marvelous support of Dr Yelamanchili and the staff of the Walker Family Cancer Centre, the amazing assistance of the Home and Community Care Support Services and the thoughts and prayers of all of our friends and relatives for these last months. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. and Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave, St. Catharines. Cremation will follow Mass. Donations may be made to The Rotary Foundation of Canada, Walker Family Cancer Center, Hospice Niagara, St Julia Church or a charity of your choice.

Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Hospice Niagara on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 in her 95th year. Majella, beloved wife of the late Lucien. Cherished mother of Lucie (Larry), Sonja (Leonard), Mariette (the late Alfred), and Diane (Ronald). Predeceased by her infant daughter and her son Gerry. Devoted Grand Predeceased by her infant daughter and her son Gerry. Devoted Grand Mama of Heather, Wayne, William, Ruth, Kate, Candice, Chase, Cara, Sarah, Jane, Emily, Alfred, Kathleen, Karen, Tera, Lisa, Jared and Jessica. Great Grand Mama to 30 awesome children. She found joy in her children and grandchildren and all their musical abilities. She loved her family and was loved by all who knew her. She will always be missed. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Rose on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Hospice Niagara at the age of 85. She was surrounded by love and passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She is reunited with her beloved husband Ronald Edward (2016) and her parents John and Rose Sinnett, survived by her loving sister Jackie O'Brien (late Ken) and sister-in-law Lynn Sinnett (late brother Tim) and sister-in-law Lois (Terry) Brady and brother-in-law Dennis Kenny and long-time cherished friend Eleanor Condotta. She will be remembered and missed dearly by many nieces and nephews. Mary Rose was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and long-time member of the Catholic Women's League. Mary Rose had a passion for art and is known for her beautiful paintings. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Vandermeer and the team of physicians at the Walker Cancer Center, all PSWs, caregivers, nurses, and staff at Hospice Niagara for all their loving care. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the age of 83. Beloved wife of 56 years to Bill Holmes Sr. Dearly loved mother of Bill Jr. (Anna) Holmes and Tim (Shelley) Holmes. Cherished Grandma of Alexandra and Katherine. Dear sister of Betty Vescio and Nick (the late Elaine) Vescio and sister-in-law of Lorraine Vescio. Predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Louis and his wife Rita Vescio. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Angie was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing obtaining her degree in 1959. Over the years Angie worked at Burnaby General Hospital in B.C. and then at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. She spent the last 25 years of her career at Valley Park Lodge. Angie will be sadly missed by the many friends she made during her nursing career, especially her good friend and co-worker Gail Cournoyea. Special thanks to Barbara Summers from the Alzheimers Society for all she did for Angie and her family. Angie had been a long-time member of the C.W.L. at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. Iris Dillon of Thorold, Ontario passed away peacefully at age 90 on October 15, 2021. Iris was a much beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, greatly invested in the well being of her family. She along with her late husband of 57 years, Gerald Dillon (2006), ensured that her children graduated university and that her grandchildren were well cared for. She unfailingly supported everyone's interests and aspirations. Her love and generosity will be greatly missed but we are comforted by the fact that she lead a long and happy life full of love. She leaves behind her three children, Geraldine Haist (Allan), Patricia Lalonde (Darin) and Paul Dillon (Maura); grandchildren, Allana (Paul), Wesley (Kelly), Jacob, Joshua (Valerie), Sean and Ian; and great grandchildren, Layla, Scarlett and Lochlan. Rosina Macoretta at the age of 93 went to be with the Lord on Aug.16, 2021 at the St.Catharines General Hospital. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Emilio (1994) and her son Peter (1963). Dear and cherished mother of Filomena Presti and her husband Carmelo, John Macoretta and his wife Sandra. Sadly missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren Joseph Presti (Susan); Michael. Luke and Anthony; Agatina D'Orsay (Matthew): Carmen, Lawrence and John; Emilio Presti (Valerie):Arturo, Arianna, Alaya, Arielle; Brendan Macoretta, Kristen Berg (Brandon). Survived by her sister Giovannina "Nina" Sardella (Liberato). She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends both in Canada and Italy. She is predeceased by her parents Maria Carmela and Domenico Marinelli, brother Liberato (Ersilia), brothers in law Angelo Macoretta (Filomena), Giovanni Macoretta (Elena) and sisters in law Nunziatina Iocca (Liberato), Maria Domenica Caperchione (Nicola).
Rosina, born in Castropignano, Italy, on March 8, 1928, was a happy independent and resourceful mom. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and family in 1955. She worked hard, adapted well to the new culture and way of life and thrived. She was a very religious, friendly and outgoing person, always ready to help everyone, especially her family and friends. She joined several groups and organizations in the community. She belonged to the Catholic Women League for over 65 years; was a member of Friends Over 55 Centre, Casa Dante, a founding member of Club Castropignano and joined numerous Bocce Leagues. Rosina 's passions were gardening, canning and preparing meals for friends and family. She was a true matriarch of the family.
Rosina's family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church (375 Main St. West, Port Colborne) on Friday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Peter Walton as celebrant. (Due to COVID restrictions, attendance will be monitored, gathering limits will be enforced and facemasks are required, both at the funeral home visitation and the Funeral Mass.) Rite of Committal will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.
